Our Sheep
Romney sheep, originating from the low-lying wetlands of Kent, England, are celebrated for their exceptional dual-purpose qualities. Known for their resilience and robust health, these sheep produce a heavy, long-staple fleece that is highly prized by hand-spinners for its luster and strength. Beyond their wool, Romneys are respected for their quiet temperament and excellent foraging ability, making them a cornerstone of sustainable farming at Fern Hill Farm. Our flock is carefully bred to maintain the authentic characteristics of the breed, ensuring that every sheep reflects the heritage and quality we strive for.
Our foundation ewe lines come from Iron Water Ranch in Oregon. IWR is known for their fantastic fleeces and contributions to the Moorit color in Romney Sheep in the US. All of our sheep are registered with the Romney Sheep Alliance.
